Do You Qualify for a Free or Reduced-Price Meal?

We understand the financial challenges that many families face today. If you feel you may qualify for meals at no charge or at a reduced rate, please complete a Free and Reduced-Price Meal Application and return it to the school as soon as possible. An application is available in the office. 

Filling out and returning an application not only provides YOU with the benefit of saving money, but the statistical results of the pool of applications we receive determines the level of funding your SCHOOL receives for many of its programs.

Even if you don't think you will qualify, we urge you to submit a meal application.

Please help us avoid lay-offs and further cuts to programs and services.

Food Safety in our Cafeterias

School cafeterias across the nation are mandated to receive health inspections twice per year. The purpose of these inspections is to ensure that our facilities and workers are complying with safety and sanitation requirements - from checking food temperatures to wearing gloves.

The Shasta County Environmental Health Department does an excellent job at making sure this mandate is met. Our cafeteria has received its required number of inspections with a 100% "PASS" rate.

But we don't stop there; we self-inspect our site on a regular basis.  Our staff member has taken a food handlers course and earned a food safety certificate.

If your child is ill and will not be attending school, please call the office-472-3243, your child's teacher will be notified.  Please send a note with the reason for the absence to the office upon your child's return to school.  Check your Student-Parent Handbook regarding tardiness and the number of absences allowed before SARB letters are mailed home.

If  the teacher is notified early in the morning, every effort will be made to have any work your child may miss available for the parent to pick up later in the day.

     This after-school program is focused on enriching school-day learning and employs regular day staff to provide academic instruction.  The programs establish joint learning goals with a commitment to linking with school.  The school and after-school staff share space, procedures, materials, equipment, etc.

    Recreation, which could include visual and performing arts, music, physical activity, health/nutrition promotion and general recreation are part of the everyday activities.  Enrichment activities may be designed to enhance the core curriculum.  Visiting volunteers are encouraged to share their hobbies or interests with the students. 

     The students have planted three Earth Boxes and placed them in the south facing windowed hallway.  They are experimenting with a control box, one box covered with a transparent plastic trash bag and the third is surrounded with water filled milk jugs and a black plastic trash bag folded in half.  The covered boxes have radishes, lettuce sprouting, only the bok choy has not sprouted yet and it has only been 7 days.  The control box has 3 radish sprouts at this time.
